HideDescription
This session builds on an extensive qualitative research project focusing on monitoring technologies that support conservation law enforcement. On one hand, the findings lead to a questioning of the effects of workplace surveillance in protected and conserved areas. On the other hand, the outcomes of this research point to a critical understanding of the impact of technology in changing the geography of environmental crime. The overall aim of this session is to raise awareness and foster discussion around the challenges posed by surveillance technologies amongst an interested professional audience and highlight potential areas for IUCN involvement on the matter.
